USA Visa - Overview

Before you apply for a US visa, you should know the followings;
VISA TYPES:
There are many types of visas, divided into two groups: non-immigrant and immigrant visas. A non-immigrant visa is basically a short- term visa for a temporary stay, while an immigrant visa facilitates permanent stay in the U.S.


Examples for Non-immigrant visa categories;

  1. B-1/B-2 is for business, pleasure and medical
  2. B-1 is for business only 
  3.  B-2 is for pleasure/medical only
  4. H-1B (specialty occupation)
  5. H-2B visa (skilled and unskilled workers)
  6. H-3 (trainee)
  7. H-4 (dependents)
  8. L-1 (intra-company transferees)
  9. L-2 (dependents)
  10. O-1 (extraordinary ability)
  11. O-2 (accompanying O-1)
Who can get a Non-Immigrant visa 


According to U.S. visa laws and regulations, most non-immigrant visa applicants must demonstrate to the consular officer that they have strong ties to their country of residence and must show that they intend to depart the United States after their temporary visit


Examples for immigrant visa categories;
  1. K-1         Fiancee Visa
  2. K-2         Child of K1 visa applicants
  3. K-3/K-4 Spouse and Child of an American citizen
  4. IR            Immediate Relative
  5. IR-1        Spouse of a U.S. citizen
  6. IR-3        Orphan adopted abroad by U.S. citizen
  7. CR-1       Spouse of a U.S. citizen
